How filming an event works on the day
An event cannot be reshot. That is why most of the work happens before the first guest arrives: we go through the programme with the organiser, mark the moments that must be captured and decide where the cameras stand. The operator is on site before the start to check light, sound and the view of the stage.
We film in reportage style: no staging and no long retakes, without getting in the way of speakers or guests. The footage covers arrivals, the room, the speakers, audience reactions and the details that convey the atmosphere. Short interviews with the organiser, speakers or guests are recorded during breaks, when the room is quieter.
The Reportage package means one operator for up to three hours. A conference where talks are recorded in full needs several cameras: one follows the speaker, another gives the wide shot. Several rooms or parallel tracks call for 2-3 operators.
